I am Vengence. I am the night. I am Batman
Batman Theme - Neal Hefti & his Orchestra and Chorus
Timeshare
The above image comes from the Justice League Action episode Time Share S01E09 (2017).
In this episode, Batman goes back in time (to Batman’s first night out) with Blue Beetle to stop Chronos from defeating him in the past.
The above gif is actually a lightning pose of the early Batman. His first pose as the dark knight. In the episode, the lightning strikes with Batman saying the iconic quote, “I am Vengence. I am the night. I am Batman”. If you look at the above gif close enough, you can even see Batman mouth the words.
Apparently, even the blue beetle himself gets to try out this Iconic Pose. If you were interested in more information regarding this episode, I found the justice league wiki to be helpful.
The OG
I believe the first sighting of this lightning pose was in Batman the Animated Series’s intro.
Bat Mite
Even Bat Mite couldn’t resist the posing fun! From Batman The Brave and the Bold S01E19: Legends of the Dark Mite.. If you didn’t know, as I didn’t before this episode, Bat Mite, Batman’s biggest fan!, is a 5th dimensional being belonging to the same plane as Mister Mxyzptlk (the 5th dimensional trickster from Superman). Though Mxyzptlk is reported to be more powerful. In this episode, Bat Mite creates fighting scenarios for Batman as he enjoys watching Batman fight crime. Given that Bat Mite is a 5th dimensional being, he uses his reality bending powers to create these scenarios out of thin air. One notable example is when he transports Gorrila Grodd, Solomon Grundy, Shaggy man, and lastly Calendar Man to fight Batman.
The OG Quote
I am Vengence.
I am the night.
I am Batman.
This was first heard in Batman the Animated Series episode: Nothing to fear. See youtube clip. Though apparently there was much to be feared. In this episode, fueled by Scarecrow toxin, Batman must face his own fears. Specifically, the fear that his parents would have never approved of what he has become.
In this episode, Batman is in quite the vunerable position when he says the iconic lines. A far cry from the position of strength in which he says it in the Timeshare episode.
The Dark Knight Returns
In the Dark Knight Returns: Part 1 (2012), Batman comes out of a long retirement at 55 years to punish criminals in Gotham once again. In one of the initial chase scenes against Two-Face’s henchment, a silouette of Batman against a lightning back drop can be briefly seen by police officers in a car chase. Not exactly the iconic pose, but still pretty cool looking. The shot is however directly referencing the famous comic book that the animated movies are based off of; The Dark Knight Returns (1986) by Frank Miller.
